I received a call from our adoption worker today. She was going over the time line with me and what not. It still looks like our home study will be done in September and when that is approved she will submit our paperwork to the agencies that she works with. She estimates that we will have a baby TWO to THREE months after that!!! PEOPLE, we MAY have a new member of our family before the year is over!! OMG!!!!! I am freaking out! I was guessing more like February or March. WOW! Of course there could always be snags and time delays, but still Holy Bejeezus! Of course I am very excited by this, but I've got tons of stuff to do. (Anyone want to come help scrub walls before September??!!)
By the way, I plan on printing this and the comments and putting it in the baby book. Just want to let you know that whatever you say here will go down in history! :)

WHY & WHEN?
When we tell people that we are adopting the first word out of their mouths is WHY? Well there isn't a simple answer to that! All I can say is that about 1 1/2 years ago, we started feeling like our family just wasn't complete. Having another biological child wasn't an option as Sam had a vasectomy soon after Carsen was born. Also, my pregnancy with Carsen was not that pleasant and there were complications with his delivery that would make further pregnancies dangerous for me and the baby. Plus, lets face it, my eggs are getting old! So when we started feeling that itch, we (um, I) started researching adoption. I looked into all the different ways to adopt, international vs domestic, private vs agency, open vs closed and MANY other options. I never knew there were so many options! Thank goodness for the internet and blogs! How did people ever gather information and make decisions without it? After researching them all and deciding what was important to us we chose to do a domestic minority adoption. What this means is we will adopt from the United States and the baby will most likely either be African American or Bi-racial. We are requesting a newborn baby girl! Yes you can request the gender! What a concept! Sam keeps telling Carsen that he ruined it for any more boys! I prefer to explain it as we want each child to have their own importance....Samantha the oldest, Carsen the only boy, and the new baby the youngest. Speaking of Carsen and Samantha, they are thrilled beyond belief! And yes, Carsen is okay with the baby being a girl. He is so excited to be getting a baby that he doesn't care if it is a boy or a girl. Samantha of course is thrilled with having a sister. They tell anyone who will listen that we are adopting a baby. Carsen is however confused....He told me the other day, babies are so cute, why would someone give one away? So, I had to explain to him that not everyone is capable of caring for them.
When is all this gong to happen? Well, we sent our application in June 23rd. I spoke with our agency worker and she estimates that our home study will be done in September. After our home study is approved we should have a baby in one to six months! We will probably be on the later side since we are requesting a girl. WOW!!!! Of course it could be longer, but still that is soon!
I will try to keep this updated to keep you informed of what is going on. Please keep us in your prayers.
